Hundreds of youth from across the state and country made their way to Central Arkansas to provide home care services free of charge for those in need.

The Ozark Mission Project welcomed youth from near and far, all eager to make a difference in the lives of Arkansans.

"So we have students serving from sixth grade through high school, and they will be going into a community that might look really different from where they live or where they're growing up. And so, in that experience they are empowered to make real change in people's lives. And for a young person that can be a transformational experience," Ozark Mission Project Mission Week Director, Alyssa Kuebler said.

"It's an opportunity to grow in your faith and in your community," Student, Henry Ross said.

Since 1986 the Ozark Mission Project has brought students together to serve the state of Arkansas, creating generations of those dedicated to service.

"They will be making connections and relationships with all types of folks and using the skills and gifts that they have for the common good of all people. That's actually our theme for the week is common good," Kuebler said.

These groups of students have spread across the state, providing service projects for community members in need, as well as those who have been affected by severe weather events.

"Some with folks that have lost their homes or have damage from natural disasters that will be part of our work this week. That's just really important because we all have to come together as a community for people when they experience these kinds of situations," Kuebler said.

In addition, they get hands-on experiences they may not find elsewhere.

"I've done ramp building, built a porch, I've put in air vents. We've done like landscaping, yard work, stuff like that and it's all... It's all fun," Student, Logan Geier said.

"You got to get out here. It's a really fun time and it gives you a sense of value to be able to provide for other people like this. It makes you feel good about yourself and the people around," Ross said.

"I think it's important because for 1, we get to meet the person we are building it for and meet the people that we're helping out. It's really nice to see the affect that it's going to have on other people," Geier said.

Ozark mission project will continue offering their services throughout the week.
