Walmart’s annual Associate Celebration opened at the Bud Walton Arena on Friday morning to a reception that some pop and rock stars could only imagine.

The acknowledgement of the U.S. associates in attendance broke 100 decibels and morphed into chants of “USA. USA.”

Lizzo, the event’s first musical act, aimed to get the party started.

Manning praised Walmart workers for their hard work and responses to natural disasters, citing efforts in his hometown during Hurricane Katrina and after the recent tornadoes in Northwest Arkansas.

The former player talked about sometimes having a rough start, which he said he had in his first professional year throwing a record number of interceptions.

Newport got a shoutout from Manning, as it is home to store number 18, which was Manning’s jersey number. An associate from the store received a customized Denver Broncos jersey with the number 18 printed on the back.

Manning then joked that his coach at the time asked him to “rollback” on his interceptions, which gave birth to the term that would be used by Walmart.
