UAMS receives $3.18 million to help Little Rock students develop communication skills
In an attempt to bolster students' conflict-resolution and relationship-building skills, the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences has received a five-year, $3.18 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the medical school announced Monday. The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) has received a five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHS) to implement a program to help Little Rock students develop communication skills. The program, named the "Respect, Empowerment, Awareness, Life," will include 16 workshops at the Accelerated Learning Center and the Hamilton Learning Academy. Two community centers in Little Rock will offer the program. The university will also hire two social workers for implementation.
