Entergy Arkansas has empowered its employees to assist in the fight against hunger-relief efforts across its 63-county service area. In the past month alone, Entergy has directed $30,000 to hunger-related efforts statewide. This comes after a local food program serving 156 senior citizens and disabled residents was temporarily halted due to the recent federal government shutdown. Customer Service Manager Amanda Killingsworth mobilized support from her colleagues and over 2,600 people on Facebook to sponsor a month of food for $60 per recipient. The Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance has also been working to keep shelves stocked at its six regional food banks and over 500 community partners during months when many Arkansans were not receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
